EVSE OCPP implementation in India

EVSE OCPP implementation in India

EVSE OCPP implementation in India

Why OCPP required in EV chargers in India?

Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is communication protocol between Electric vehicle charging stations and a central management system. This enable maximum charging rate to be controlled depending upon availability of power in the grid and adopted worldwide. OCPP gives charging station owners the ability to not only monitor the condition of their charging stations, but to remotely authorize usage.

Which OCPP version needs to be implemented in my chargers?

There  are  mainly  three  different  versions  of  OCPP from  the  time  of  its  first release.  They  are  OCPP  1.5,OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0 respectively. There  are  three  different  versions  of  OCPP from  the  time  of  its  first release.  They are OCPP 1.5, OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0 respectively. Currently most of the EVSE supports in India OCPP 1.6. Using the same version you can check firmware upgrade capability also.

We are manufacture of Bharat AC and DC Chargers. Do you provide support to test OCPP implementation?

Yes, we would able to help you to test implementation of OCPP in EV chargers. Our platform supports OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0. You need to have support of unique ID and OCPP client implementation on web socket in EV charger.

Why we should implement OCPP2.0 along with OCPP1.6?

The most recent version of the Open Charge Point Protocol is the OCPP 2.0. Recent version introduces new features mainly to improve handling large amounts of transactions, increase security, extend smart charging functionality, and to include Plug and Charge standards.

What are basic functionalities of EV charger to interact with CPO/CMS software?

  • User Authorization (Cache)
  • Transactions Start/Stop & Energy Values
  • Charge Point configuration
  • Status information
  • Remote Commands: Start/Stop/Unlock
  • OTA Firmware updates

Which protocol should I implement SOAP or Web Socket/JSON?

We prefer Web Socket/JSON over SOAP implementation. It is very effective way to have bidirectional data communication without the overhead of traditional polling strategies. EV charger with identity “EVC001” connecting to a Central System with endpoint URL is “ws://centralsystem.evcharz.com/OS3P/EVC001

I am looking for EV charger management software. Which software CPO/CMS/EMS is best for me?

There are various standard software available in market to manage EV chargers but we recommend you to select such software which is customized as per your needs. Energy management system is critical part of this system and should be easily interfaced with your existing software like Restaurant software, Society software, billing software, Solar monitoring software etc. EV charger software should support all type of EV E-Bike, E-Rickshaw and E-Car to manage charger efficiently. It should be interoperable for any EV charger which supports OCPP protocol with backward compatibility.

EV Startup EVcharZ™ Launches EV charging stores in India

EV Startup EVcharZ™ Launches EV charging stores in India

The electric vehicle’s age in India has started, and India is in the search for its development choices. It’s predicted that 50% of vehicles in India will be electrical by 2030. The government’s drive to guarantee EV adoption via tax advantages and subsidies has propelled the industry development.

Among the massive buzz heading in India about the Electric Vehicles (EV) revolution, a Rajasthan based EV start up, EVcharZ™ has come up low cost smart IoT based EV charging store for shops, offices, and public places across India.

The services that store have to offer are EV Charging Solution, EV Battery and EV charger.

Anyone can step into this growing business by becoming an authorized reseller with EVcharZ™. They have three types of package to choose from, Silver Partner, Gold Partner, and Platinum Partner.

This startup is a pan India distributor, having a presence in different parts of India. Their products range from E-cycle charger, E-Bike charger, E-Rickshaw to E-car charger. With the help of them you can set up private charging stations (home or shop) as well as public charging stations.

Benefits Offered

The cost of installing a charging station is minimal and cost effective, it will get easier for store to profit from this low investment plan. You will get full sales support, which includes, lead generation, product training, Customer services, and active market communications. This can be through several channels, such as data mining, social networking networks, email campaigns, and the company website. You get dedicated and single point of contact, with whom you can connect, whenever you have any question or if you need any help.

Do’s and Don’t for E-Bike Charger and Battery

Do’s and Don’t for E-Bike Charger and Battery

Discover ways to extend E-Bike battery and charger life by following simple do’s and don’ts.smile

  • Always use compatibility batteries with charger. Please be sure the voltage matches your battery. For example, only use the 48V charger on a 48V Battery. – Using the higher voltage charger is dangerous and can be a fire risk.
  • Never use a lead-acid charger to charge the lithium-ion battery, this may damage the battery.
  • Avoid deep discharge of the battery to prolong the life of the battery
  • Prevents full cycles in Lithium-ion battery, apply some charge after a full discharge to keep the protection circuit alive.
  • Partial and Random charge is better for life for Lithium-ion battery compares to Lead-acid battery from performance point fo view.
  • Due to the high voltage inside, it is recommended to contact an authorized service provider in case of any issue in charger performance.
Good News for Battery pack manufacturer

Good News for Battery pack manufacturer

FAME II has been started but many OEM and battery pack manufacturers are having doubt about their battery pack fall under localized component or not.

Good news for OEM that the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has released a revised list of parts which are to be indigenized under the Phased Manufacturing Program (PMP) which falls under the phase II of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME II) program.

The codes given in the above table indicate the date of indigenization of the part.

  • A – With effect from April 1, 2019
  • A* – With effect from July 1, 2019
  • B – With effect from October 1, 2019
  • C – With effect from April 1, 2019
  • D – With effect from October 1, 2019
  • E – With effect from April 1, 2019

For traction battery pack following important points to be noted for FAME subsidy

1. Traction battery pack to be assembled locally.

2. The battery cell and associated thermal and battery management system may be imported

This will definitely boost up the local manufacturing of battery pack and will create employment in battery manufacturing.

FAME II YET TO EXPLODE

FAME II YET TO EXPLODE

Friends,
Fame 2 has started on 1st April 19, but its effects are not visible now, it’s main reasons are

1. Most of the E-rickshaw available in market are not having support of Lithium battery , manufactures are in process of upgrading their E-rickshaw with support of lithium battery.
2. FAME II certification is mandatory and OEMs need re certification of FAME II
3. This certification is carried out by recognized testing agencies such as Automotive Research Association of India’s (ARAI)
4. This same re-verification is applicable for e-bikes also.
5. Automakers mandate to have 50% local parts in order to claim incentives , this is again a major hurdle for OEMs as most of the parts are imported from china.

We expect that situation will become better in next 2-3 months and more and more vehicle will come in market with FAME II incentives in next coming months.
